NHS Health Check
What is an NHS Health Check?
NHS Health Check is a national programme in England for people between the ages of 40 and 74. It is a free 45-minute check to assess a person’s risk of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and kidney disease. This check is offered because everybody is at risk of developing these health problems. Having an NHS Health Check can help to lower the chance of developing them.

What will happen at my health check?
The NHS Health Check appointment centres around the following areas:
- Finger prick cholesterol test
- Blood pressure check
- Weight, height (BMI)
- Waist measurement
You will also be asked questions centred around:
- Diet
- Physical activity
- Smoking
